Keynote Presentation "The Impact of the iPad and the Future Use of Content"

By Richard Levine, Condé Nast, VP Editorial Operations |
Financial Ballroom
This session will focus on the future of content and how the editorial market consumes and views media after the introduction of the iPad. Condé Nast leads the iPad charge in the magazine industry since the launch of their Wired application and iPad versions of GQ and Vanity Fair earlier this year. They are currently working on an Adobe Air platform version of The New Yorker. Levine will address how the new e-reading platform offers magazines significant opportunities to greatly expand and enhance their content; and how his staff adapts in this rapidly-evolving environment.
Levine works with Condé Nast's consumer magazines on a broad range of operational issues, as well as new initiatives—including the development of digital editions and websites. He served for three years as Vice President and Human Resources Director of The New Yorker and, prior to that, was Managing Editor of Condé Nast Traveler. Before his advent at Condé Nast, Levine spent a decade at The New York Times. He has also co-authored four books on business management.

By Brian Storm, MediaStorm, Executive Producer |
Financial Ballroom
Originally founded in 1994 at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, MediaStorm relaunched in March '05 with a focus on creating cinematic narratives for distribution across a variety of platforms. Utilizing animation, audio, video, and the power of still photography, they publish diverse narratives that speak to the heart of the human condition. MediaStorm has been honored with numerous accolades including four Webby Awards, three Emmy awards, and the first duPont Award for Web-based production.
Prior to relaunching MediaStorm, Storm spent two years as vice president of News, Multimedia & Assignment Services for Corbis. Storm led Corbis' global strategy for the news, sports, entertainment, and historical collections; and he directed the representation of world-class photographers for assignment work with a focus on creating in-depth multimedia products. From 1995 to 2002, Storm was the first director of multimedia at MSNBC.com—a joint venture of Microsoft and NBC News—where he was responsible for the audio, photography, and video elements of the site. In October of 1998, he created MSNBC's The Week in Pictures to showcase visual journalism in new media.
